You will need to file a food establishment notification for starting a primary production operation. Primary production means producing, growing, cultivating, harvesting, milking, and all phases of producing animal products that happen before slaughtering.
Primary production includes:
- producing dairy
- growing livestock
- producing eggs
- fishing and fish farming
- growing vegetables, fruit, crops, or mushrooms
- producing honey
- picking wild berries and mushrooms
- hunting
You must file a notification when you start or end a primary production operation, or whenever there is a change in your operation. You can find the notification form here.
For more information on primary production, see the Finnish Food Authority's guide for businesses (pdf).
