According to a change in the Food Act (1397/2019) in January 2020, the first arrival control, or the import of animal foodstuffs from EU-countries, will transfer from the Finnish Food Auothority to municipal authorities. The control of these kinds of imports now takes place under general food safety control, and is included in Oiva-inspections.

Importers of animal foodstuffs from EU-countries must notify their local food safety control authorities when commencing, ending or changing their operations. (Link to the notification form)
